The Very First Blog
January 28, 2009
Hello and welcome to my official website.
We have been developing the site for a while but we’ve finally got there and now you have one destination for all things connected with me. I’ll be frequently updating you with new material ranging from blogs, pictures and videos to regular rants about things I feel passionate about. Have a click around now and you’ll hopefully find plenty to keep you occupied in the meantime.
Right now I am in the middle of auditions for the new series of Britain’s Got Talent. We have already been to Manchester, Glasgow, Birmingham and as I write this I’m in Hammersmith, London before we head to our final stop in Cardiff. The quality of talent has, always on the show, been of variable standards and I am not sure what I love more, the stars in our midst or the deluded characters that are happy to face the crowds and us judges without fear of rejection on national television. As usual the audience at the shows have been vocal in their support or in the majority of cases lack of. Of course I’ll give you more gossip and news from backstage as the show gets underway.
My brand new travel show Piers On begins tonight with Dubai on ITV1 at 9pm. Dubai is a city I have visited a great number of times and every time I go I am astonished by the luxury and the scale of the ambition you find. With global recession biting I was eager to find out what the impact will be on this playground of the rich and famous.
I’ve got another show starting in February but I’ll let you know more about that in my next blog.
So, for the moment…cheerio

Dear Piers,
I watch your first programme on Dubai with interest. I travel to Dubai frequently and over the past twenty years I have noticed Dubai changing into this enterprising country.
However, what your feature did not expand on was the fact that there are many uncompleted buildings with buyers having to wait for over three years for their apartments to be competed as builders who default on their delivery dates really don’t seem to care about their customers.
As for the hotels in Dubai, there are many with less then 50% occupancy, yet they still charge exorbitant rates.
Your interviews with some members of the ex-pat community did not show that there are many that can no longer afford to live in Dubai or have lost their jobs, since the credit crunch has also now reached Dubai. Many just leave their cars at the airport because they can’t afford the repayments on their loans.
It would be interesting to watch a revisit to Dubai, and showing the other side to your story.
Regards
Adil Jilla

Hi Piers, thnks for a great programme on Dubai, we lived in Abu Dhabi in the eighties for four years working in the Hilton Hotel and loved it. What a change from when we visited Dubai!!! I often look at the middle east web sites to see how things have progressed because I was always impressed by their view on investment in their infrastructure and supporting the locals, would that this countries government have the same concern…. Really enjoy your column in the Mail on Sunday and it is refreshing to have someone like you give commen on day to day issues in a refreshing way. Keep it up and from the north of Scotland we wish you every continued success, kindest regards, Garry

Hiya,
I am always astounded
You pop up everywhere, and more and more… you are not only a star in your own right, but your involvement on fabulous television, was yet again shown with your Dubai VT. Very impressive start to the series.
I was hoping to go get funding out in Dubai, for a project. I was thinking maybe I will go, maybe not. As many of the people you spoke to were in media, internet or publishing, I figure I will go after all next month. They like crazy, but well thought out business’s, minutia planning, but global crazy scope.. that’s a place I like the sound of. The City here is choking, and media is slow here…yet over there they still have the flair to try new things.. all good. The episode inspired me.
Thanks, it may not work, but I will give it my best shot - Thanks again - cracking to have you online officially.

Do you like the Arts Piers?, have you ever thought of presenting an Art programme, there’s never much on TV and you would be the perfect presenter, being a work of art yourself and with that lovely sexy voice.
All the best Piers, take care, if you’re ever visiting East Yorkshire let me know - there’ll be a warm welcome.xx

I am very amused by all of the Piers loving in the other comments, I thought I was the only one, meaning more woman to beat off…Damn it. I’m 19…Does that give me an upperhand?
Anyway. Have really enjoyed the ‘Piers on’ series, it has been really interesting to see the places that we all long to go to so much. The Monte Carlo episode actually made me and my friend decided to go for a break there this summer, can’t wait.
Also, went to see the ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ auditions in Glasgow. Was sitting right at the end of the row and got to shake Piers’ hand which was fantastic. Glasgow has NO talent. And just to let you know Piers, when you said that even Scottish people don’t like bigpipes you were right. Lots and lots of Scottish people hate bagpipes, even though the audience seemed to be acting all patriotic, I couldn’t stand them.
Can’t wait for the next blog.x

Hi Piers,
You are a very handsome man. Thanks much for the updates. I have watched the clips of susan on YouTube several times. She is a fantastic singer and I just can’t get enough of her. Enjoy your date with her but don’t give her any false hope or I will not admire you anymore. I was thrilled to see you soften your expression as she sang. You looked at her with respect and admiration. Wear you hair brushed back you look very gorgeous like that.

Dear Piers, Having an intuitive nature, I look to others to describe my feelings . I have discovered that everything I feel about Susan Boyle has been said, and in beautiful, and articulate ways. Therefore, I cannot add anything new . Let me talk about things that has happened to me that I have to blame on Susan Boyle.(How I love saying her name!) After seeing a snippet of her first performance, I became like spatic kid, channel surfing trying to see and hear more of her. NOTHING! Then I became a babbling nut, telling everyone about her, asking them to give any information that they could about her. I was despertly seeking Susan! Even asking the secretary at my son’s office to go online to YouTube, And ther she was! Then I became a blubbering sight, and unashamed of my tears and the joy and happiness that I felt. When Susan went into the clinic, the same secretary got the address off the internet for me. And I wrote Susan a letter. (Out of my realm again) It was mailed the day she left the clinic, and the time it took for the delevery, not sure if she ever got it . Maybe its lost in the millions and millions of cards and letters that she has gotten. After that, I became a thief, taking a copy of Peoples Magazine right out of the waiting room. It had a write up and pictures of Susan. Then I became destructive, tearing pages out of other magazines, that has a picture or a write up about Her. Slowly, Came back to my senses, had the internet connected to my PC this week. First day spent twelve hours trying to get my fill. Now I can get a daily fix. Piers, I know that you are a friend to Susan, and will help take care of her. Please see to it that she has a Nutritional Dietian make her every meal. If she is well nurished, she will have more stamnia, and not tire as easilie. Also, donot let anyone change her beautiful name. She is not a SuBo
Don’t let dudes line up to give her that first kiss.(I know that is her joke) When she is ready, she will choose the time and place.
Give that beautiful Simon a message for me, please. Susan should record ,The Lord’s Prayer, and, How Great Thou Art, and grant permission
for the CD to be used in special services. Thanks for letting me vent, I feel better. I am Mable Marie A.K.A. Mae Mae in Cheraw, SC.

Hello Piers,
I have been scouting your site almost everyday for several months now just to see what you are up to and to see if there is anything new on Susan. The last few days I had a real purpose in mind. I am, along with many others, are apalled by Amanda Holdens conduct. I know it has nothing to do with you but please give Susan a call and see if she even knows about it. Make Amanda apologize to her if not in public at least to her face. I am so ashamed of Amanda. I cannot believe she went along with the skit. And the horrid things she said about Susan (and you.) What the hell was she thinking? If I could I would slap her across the face just as she has done to Susan only her slap didn’t leave a hand print as mine would. Shame on her! Simon needs to give her an earfull as well as BGT. Many have said all over the net they will have nothing to do with anything she is associated with. I have to agree with them.I have posted many regards to her on several different site and will conitue to do so until we hear something from someone. Only this time around I think it is up to Simon Cowell to do the damage control. People want her walking papers and not just on BGT. WE don’t want her here! It’s very sad it has come to this but this is how so many of us feel. It was a cruel thing to do.
OH, on another note! There is a song that was written for Susan….damn….I can’t remember the name of the guy who wrote it. I’ll have go back to the site…wait…Just go to ‘Susan Boyle Fansite.’ It will say latest videos under her audition clip. You can’t miss it. Look for Never Been Kissed. It’s a wonderful song. I hope you like it. You really must take a gander at it. There are pictures of you in it. So it is a must see! I’m not that computer savvy so it will be up to you to find.
LOve you bunches!
P.S. Please, please call Susan! She may need a comforting voice. Or maybe she won’t. Just check on her for us. Thank you!
