Who will be performing for the Queen?
May 30, 2009
Welcome along - we here at officialpiersmorgan.com are going to be keeping you up to date with all the action from tonight’s Britain’s Got Talent. Remember to refresh the page every couple of minutes to get the latest on what’s happening on the show if you can’t be near a TV and don’t forget to keep your comments coming in.
_________________________________________________________
Thanks a lot for joining us tonight - what a blast! There will be photos of the final up tomorrow in the gallery and keep checking back to officialpiersmorgan.com to read Piers’ reaction to tonight’s drama.
21.57 Diversity perform again - How are they managing to do it again after being crowned winners??
A great end to the night and congratulations to them deserved winner
21.55 Susan covers herself in glory be being a perfect runner up and being gracious in defeat saying she lost to a great act.
21.54 Second Place goes to Susan Boyle
Which means the winners are DIVERSTY!!!!!
21.53 Third Place is Julian Smith
21.52 That doesn’t make it any easier to decide.
21.51 The final three are SUSAN BOYLE, JULIAN SMITH and DIVERSITY
21.50 All the acts are out on stage and before any results a massive congratulations to everyone who auditioned, got through to the semis and of course our ten finalists!
21.45 The lines have now closed and we are only moments away from finding out who will be performing in front of the Queen.
21.31… And now the end is here! It’s time for the final show and time to crown a winner (or winners possibly). Over on the iViva Twitter they can’t decide who is going to win. The lines are still open so there is a chance to change the outcome. Keep voting Brits.
20.22 So that is that for and hour if you are in the UK shift over to ITV 2 to watch @StephenMulhern on Britain’s Got More Talent and don’t forget to cast your vote. Someone is in for a massive night (and sadly there are 9 acts set to be disappointed) - see you in an hour!
20.13 After the high energy of Diversity, Julian Smith is the last act of the final. It is a performance of a lifetime as every note is perfect - the crowd are with him and he looks to have given himself a fighting chance against some very tough opposition. It must have been very hard to come on last and he has done an admirable job. All three judges are very impressed by his cool exterior and slick performing. Who is going to win no-one can be certain now? Apologies to the world for excluding you now but here we go
THE LINES ARE NOW OPEN - Brits do your country and the world justice vote carefully!
20.05 Flawless are you watching? Diversity are next up - can they match up their dance rivals. A Transformers themed show tonight and the trademark humour is there to behold including a section where they pretend to be the judges with three heads as buzzers! Inspired stuff, technically smart and the audience and judges are back on their feet. Fabulous Fabulous performance. Simon says that he would have given them top marks so far and bounds about the word perfection. Piers controversially says Flawless edged them… your votes will decide that tonight.
20.02 So over in Twitter land iViva are asking for one word descriptions and the winners are:
For Shaun Smith - Mellow Magic from @suedray
and for Susan Boyle - Boyleistic from … @ThePerfectKris
if you want to get involved in the game and see your name up on this page head over to Twitter by clicking here.
19.55 Susan returns to hear smashing version of I Had a Dream. Can’t help but feel that had extra emphasis this time round and Susan seems happy in herself. Piers gives up on impartiality and declares she should be the winner and the audience give a mixed reaction to that. Amanda doesn’t go that far but is thoroughly impressed nonetheless. Simon applauds for making the right decision and seeing it through to the end. All the gossip about this being a one horse race is a joke - it couldn’t be any closer.
19.53 So here we go SuBo time - Susan Boyle is on stage and there is no handheld mic…
19.48 Singing Ain’t No Sunshine Shaun Smith take his shot at the big time. A definitely gutsy performance full of energy and confidence. Simon describes it as the performance of his life and thinks he might be in with a chance to win this. Amanda and Piers are in agreement and before he leaves - Shaun gives us a hand as phone gesture brilliant!
19.46 So over in Twitter land iViva are asking for one word descriptions and the winners are:
For Hollie - Nerves of Steel from @Lozakasuperman
and For Stavros - Lord of the Pranks from … @Lozakasuperman - well done you are the first person to get both!!!!
if you want to get involved in the game and see your name up on this page head over to Twitter by clicking here.
19.37 We have officially seen it all! Performing to Lord of the Dance Stavros Flatley bring the audience AND THE JUDGES to their feet!! It’s a routine full of humour and warmth and they couldn’t have done any more. Simon calls it genius, Amanda says if she could move in her dress she would have got up and kissed them both. Finally to Piers who says they are now officially the best duo in the UK and are funnier than Ant & Dec ?? You can’t put anything between the acts so far everyone is in with a chance.
19.30 Hollie Steel is the fifth act and we are halfway through. A much more assured performance from the young singer and there is no sign of tears. She sings beautifully and it’s a job well done. A massive well done to her for pulling it out of the bag. Piers and Amanda are both hugely impressed and Simon calls it fantastic. The judges point out there is no pity involved tonight if she wins it’ll be on her merit. Will that be enough for her to truly compete with the great acts tonight?
19.25 So over in Twitter land iViva are asking for one word descriptions and the winners are:
@ThePerfectKris who said about Aidan - Aidanbopping
@ScottM who said about 2Grand - 2SICKLY!
if you want to get involved in the game and see your name up on this page head over to Twitter by clicking here.
19.18 2 Grand are the first of two family acts tonight. Singing a song from Disney’s Aladdin the duo do an admirable job but there are a few wobbles during the number. Will that come back to haunt them? Simon picks up on their nerves and says there is no shame in them not winning. Piers applauds them for getting so far and Amanda echoes the congratulations but it feels like that is that for the pair… or will there be a final twist?
19.10 Another dance act as Aidan Davis is next up. Last night’s stage show for him was brilliant can he match it tonight? The answer is a resounding yes as he looks mature beyond his years. The crowd loved it and Aidan says it is only the fourth time he has done it! Is he joking? That is unbelievable! Simon says it suffered from not having enough preparation but Amanda and Piers think he managed to do it. Aidan is heartbroken by Simon’s critique and sheds a tear or two - chin up lad you did brilliantly. Not long until we find out what you at home think.
19.06 So our first one word descriptions from the iViva twitter is SHABADABADOO from a regular @Witte if you want to get involved in the game and see your name up on this page head over to Twitter by clicking here.
19.02 Shaheen Jafargholi is up next and there are arms swaying in the studio and boy he is doing Wales proud tonight and when he hits the big note he knocks it out of the park! The judges arevery very impressed and Shaheen has shown why kids can compete at this level.
18.52 Flawless are the first act tonight and before anything starts - GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE. An absolutely mind blowing start to the night Flawless pull off a fantastically choreographed routine and the crowd are on their dancing feet. Simon says they have saved the best for last and they certainly have. Piers calls them world class and Amanda says they make her proud to be British. That I would say is the gauntlet being thrown down.
18.49 Amanda wasn’t kidding when she said she had a dress for the final - She look’s like a 50’s Hollywood icon. The judges are in the house. Even they must be nervous.
18.45 It’s been a glorious summer day and what better way to end than to settle in for a night of high drama. Ant & Dec kick off the show with a recap of the 10 we are going to see tonight and it is a brilliant set of acts.
18.25 So twenty minutes away from the final and the world really is watching tonight. It’s not only the 10 finalists under scrutiny but as voters as well as tonight Britain will be voting on behalf of a lot of interested people. In case you need your mind jogging here are the the competitors.
Aidan Davis
Hollie Steel
2 Grand
Julian Smith
Shaheen Jafargholi
Stavros Flatley
Flawless
Shaun Smith
Diversity
Susan Boyle
If you want some extra special content make sure that you are following www.twitter.com/iviva they will both be tweeting throughout the show tonight.

P. Shaw says
I think Hollie Steel should not have been given a second chance. She has her turn and that’s it. She clearly threw a tantrum. If she is not old enough to be in control, she shld not be in the contest.

I just watched Susan Boyle’s final performance. It was beautiful, as is she, but the pain and hurt on her face has me crying. Yes, I’m sure “I Dreamed a Dream” has more meaning today than it did the first time. Who would have thought the british press would put this lady through the meat grinder like that when all she wanted to do is sing to bring joy to the world. Well you know what? As Simon said, she did shove it down their throats. Susan, you have the world in the palm of your hand. I feel like I want to come get you and take you home, then I think, I know you, but you do not know me. There must be millions of us who feel the same way. We have not heard the last of Susan Boyle. You will have as much of a singing career as you want, or don’t want. You have a magnificent gift. I love you darlin’.

Well, I couldn;t help myself and peeked Susan’s performance. Susan did great, it was very powerful. There was a moment of two where I thought I heard some mismatch but in general it was the best performace to date. It is certainly better that the one in semi-finals. This Susan today had way more power.. I’m sure she is beat, too… She alread is the winner for me. I’ll be thinking about her as I continue to work. No matter what I think about media, I still like this lady a lot, I like the spirit she showed.
*Channeling positive energy*, hoping that she will keep her head high and be proud.
Best regards!

Susan so deserved to win, she was brilliant!

Well done Susan! You’re a winner to us in Canada!
GOD Bless!

How true are the words “Life has killed the dream” or in this case “The Media has killed the dream”.
Congratulations Diversity! I always preferred you to Flawless.

Deb Ontario Canada says
Congrats Diversity, if Susan lost at least it was to a terrific, dynamite group.
Killed the dream - no kidding! Damn the British press, a pox on you all - you are all the lowest form of pondscum by trying to raise a doubt and sabotaging a kind, sweet lady’s dream.
I am unsubscribing to all the brit media. You are all trash.
Susan you ARE the best! Look forward to your CD, your tour and you will still have a lovely life!

My favorite was, of course, Susan, but we all must remember that BGT is a variety talent show, which could be broken down by category and age. Clearly, Susan won in the singing category. I have not purchased a CD is many years, and I cannot wait to purchase every single CD that Susan records. So, Susan, get some rest and head to the recording studio ASAP. America is waiting for your first release! Your dream to be a professional singer has begun. Congratulations to a beautiful, talented lady.

Voracious Violinist says
Diversity were brilliant - great choreography and jaw-dropping routine, a fantastic group of young people who are a inspiring role model for their generation. I loved Julian’s sax playing too, he’s such a talented, virtuosic and intense musician - hopefully he will get the performing and recording chances he so richly deserves. It is great to see a solo instrumentalist doing so well in the show!
But I have to admit that my heart goes out to Susan. She sang with so much determination and passion tonight - one really felt Susan was answering back to all the criticism and pressure she has been under. I’m sure she’ll go on to great things but hope fervently that there will be people around her in the future who will protect her and her interests… Susan’s a lovely warmhearted woman who doesn’t deserve to fall prey to the sharks and piranhas of the gutter press and music business. Piers: I hope she will be able to rely on your friendship?
So sad BGT is over - now I don’t have any excuses not to do my violin practice and writing!

Susan may not have won BGT, but she has won the respect and admiration of millions across the world. As Mr. Morgan said you have given us all something we needed at a time when spirits needed lifting. Congratulations’ Susan for all you have achieved and I wish you the best.

I cannot believe what “Brits” and yellow “journalism” did to smash the dream. Further, I cannot imagine the Queen enjoying a bunch of new-age cosmos-computer flailing arms dance routine, when the Queen could have heard an uplifting voice carrying us all toward better things. Susan Boyle deserved to win this– no one else! I hope you all must face your shame one day.
So, Susan, when will you be doing some recordings, hon? We across the pond know a gem when we see one and recognize an angel’s voice when we hear it (unlike the Brits). Cannot wait to hear your songs — and to be able to play them again and again…

All the better. Now the queen will have to request you to sing in a command performance. If you can not treat children, in a 100.000 pound contest, the same way as adult contestants: consider a Britain’s got talent junior edition. You three judges turned Britain’s got talent in a fake contest. Who-ever wins the final this Saturday, wins the biggest joke on television.

Susan Boyle has already won! She’s famous here in America and all over the world. Susan has touched our hearts and given us a reason to believe. That group, Diversity, who cares? They won the votes in the final, but as entertainers they must be P-O-P-U-L-A-R to survive, duh! I can’t wait for Susan’s professional career to succeed here in America!

Dear Piers,
The editors of this site deleted some of my messages and I don’t understand why.
You are a great writer and a bad judge of talent. So what. Susan Boyle will become rich because I will buy her CD (three copies at least) and that dance that will perform on a show for the queen… Never watched that show.
But I would hire would hire a better editor for your website, as I intend to stay in contact with you now Americas got talent will start very soon.

You’re right Michelle….the Queen will have to request a command performance and that will be the greatest honor of all for Susan. Looking forward to buying her CD here in the good ole USA. Diversity was really good but I was rooting for Susan all the way! I hope someone signs Shaun Smith as well, as he has a unique voice. Music goes on and on forever…where dancing is dancing. I loved Fred Astair, Danny Kaye, Gene Kelly and others but what I remember is the songs that they sang; not their moves.

I have to say I am very disappointed the Susan did not win the contest, but she has won something far more valuable than BGT. She has won the admiration and love of millions of people around the globe. I’m saddened that BGT did not protect her and allowed her name to be trashed in the rag mags. You should have never allowed such people even close to her as she was not used to them and didn’t know how to handle the situation. I blame you, Piers, the most. You have mislead her and, therefore, must bear the responsibility. We in America love her and can’t wsit for her to make get a cd out. I’m a little sorry that it will be Simon who does that since he has failed her, also.
Nobody here gives a flip about a dance troup. They are, as we say, a dime a dozen. I’m sure Susan will be invited to sing for the Queen and her dream will come true, no thanks to the British public. I will always be a Susan Boyle fan. I never was a fan of BGT.
May 30, 2009 at 11:04 pm
Kathleen Keefe says
Cannot believe the outcome; Susan’s performance tonight SHOULD have gotten her #1 - another case of media smearing/sneering swaying the vote? Or were the bookies worried about their losses and found a way to block Susan’s votes - referred to by some posters on Susan’s fan-site?
No matter, it was a favor to Susan. She certainly has a fantastic following, and a great career ahead of her if that’s what she desires - but someone other than Simon will reap the profits.
The Brits may not love Susan Boyle enough to give her the deserved #1 spot, but she’s Number 1 here in the USA - and the rest of the world.
I just can’t stop crying that her dream to sing for the Queen has been denied to her. That seemed to be what would convince her she’s not “worthless”.
I certainly hope you keep your dinner date with her and make it as magical as possible.

Yes Dale I agree,
“We in America love her and can’t wsit for her to make get a cd out. I’m a little sorry that it will be Simon who does that since he has failed her, also.
I’d prefer Sony BMG instead of Simon too. But don’t you worry, Simon Cowell is depressed often. He chooses success over friendship any time. That’s why he always will feel lonely.
The world voted Susan Boyle - I am just one of those, as many of my friends and family here in Holland.
Piers Morgan said so too before the final. “Susan Boyle has won already.”

Deb Ontario Canada (ex brit) says
I agree Dale. Iam not a fan of BGT, they need to bear some of the responsibility for this - oh how they have ALL benefitted on that show!:|.

Oh my, Susan didn’t win and for some reason i’m not that upset? I wanted her to win but with her talent she is way too good to be on some Variety show like the average performer, Susan Boyle and her voice are destined for much bigger and better things. I wish her well with her new found successes. I know we will be seeing/hearing from her again very soon. *wink-wink*

great show, i still believe flawless are tighter as dancers, but on choreography i think diversity edge ahead and to think they only had about 24hrs to come up with the routine is pretty staggering. My big gripe though, is the camara work, its always pretty crap when focusing on dance groups, they bounce the camaras all over the place rather than shooting head on for the viewers to watch all the dance steps, it always amazes me that a profession tv channell have so little imagination and common sense, and that goes for most all tv channells, they never get it right, doing an injustice to the proformers and the viewers.

Susasn, what can I say? All along, you were a winner in my eyes even before you set foot on the stage for the BGT final. You are a sweetheart and a classy lady. Your performance tonight was even more moving than your audition performance. It gave me goosebumps! You will be welcomed with open arms when you come to the USA. I truly believe that your dream has come true. With your God given talent, and the global exposure you have right now, the best is yet to come!
Piers, what a gentlemen you are! Your comments immediately following Susan’s performance at the final were very moving. I know you really felt that She deserved to win this contest, but in the eyes of all her fans in the States and around the world she has and always will be a winner.

I agree with most of people said that Susan should had won the BGT, and that kind of dance is not for the Queen to watch. Diversity is good, but do you think they can last in the UK? I double about that. Susan is the treasure of the globe now and will be last forever. I have to say that I had never watched BGT, AGT etc. until one of my America friends sent me the link of youtube of Susan Boyle. I could not help to watch it again and again. She is simply beautiful not just in her voice but in her personality as well. I also have to admit that I have not bought any CD for more than 10 years but I cannot wait for her first and every CD/DVD in the future.
Susan, you have won all our hearts in the world, and you have everything in your hands now which every one including any stars in the world could dream of their life. Go Susan, ignore those nasty critics and just sign, and fulfil your life dream!
Hollywood, we Australians are ashamed of your saying those things about Susan which would not benefit your career but only prove that you are a ugly man than your average look (I bet your dancing is pretty average as well as your look), and also prove that you are a very shallow and jealous man as well. One said that ‘If you don’t have anything nice to say about someone, perhaps it is wiser to keep silent. Unkind words have a way of coming back to haunt you’.
Piers, please find an agent for Susan for her wellbeing, if not, simply send her to America as I could see that almost all of the Americans are waiting for her.
Love you Susan.

Susan - Though you didn’t win the competition tonight, you are a winner in every way. You gave so much in your performances…and hope, especially to those of us who are in our middle years and realize our youth is fading. Hope you get to sing for the Queen. Here across the pond, we had a singer once much like you - Kate Smith - who got her own TV show, one of the first here in America. Her signature song was “When the Moon Comes Over the Mountain.” I’d love to hear you sing it - on a CD.

Piers and Susan…from the first night I saw you audition through the final today, I saw far more than a talent show with a singer and a judge. God put you together to fall in love and support each other in every way. I hope you will seriously ponder this…it DOES happen.

Piers, I believe I will be watching you on Geraldo-Fox News tonight at 10. I am curious. Now that the finals are over, will you still be so outwardly supportive of Susan? I concur that you have been outspoken on her behalf, but I believe that wonderful lady is still really hurting. How you could throw her under the bus by your unnessarily vivid description of how she kissed you. That should have stayed private. Don’t keep ranting about her problems in her early life. Every one knows. She doesn’t need that sympathy to be a winner. I believe she had more than a crush on you, and Im sure you let her know where that was…maybe just before her tirade? I hope she finds someone worthy. Someone who is not looking for her money, a barbie doll, not asking if he looks good with her, but wants a real person…and by the way it was obvious Simon was really feeling her pain. That I believed. She looked like she didn’t believe any of the compliments that any of you gave after her final. Why would that be??? Unfortunately, it probably felt like more of the same. If either of you is really a decent man, you’ll have nothing but praise for Susan. I will be watching and so will the rest of America.

Thank you, Piers, for being so kind to Susan. You are truly a decent human being.

Bottom line Susan will have a career from this. Diversity while I loved your choreography and enthusiasm you marketability is limited. Susan has the world waiting to see and hear her. This is not the end for Susan Boyle it is just the beginning.
When America gets hold of her she will soar. Do not quite get the result who in their right mind would choose a group of mechanical like dancers over a great singer. However well synchronised they were?
Oh. well Sa la vie.Susan will have the last laugh on all of you Especially you perfidious Piers.

Hi Piersy….I spent the ENTIRE day on the internet here in L.A.- started at 10:45 am my time, and i found a streaming site-justintv- I swear i went thru so many horrible and boring acts and numerous commercials, just to finally see Ms. Boyle who was great- not as great as her audition of course, but as a former performer, that kind of trancendence she had in the initial audItion, happens only RARELY when performing- hardly ever HAPPENS when one is under big pressure.
I was proud Susan showed up, and did more than show. She gave a great performance. I also think she showed a sense of relief when she was not voted in first place.
I know why “Diversity” won- several reasons, really:
1. Bookmakers made a fortune, since SUBO was the fave- they made out like bandits!
2. Simon was worried she would crack from further pressure, so he made sure she came in 2nd
3. Miss Boyle HERSELF wanted to come in second and not first, to ease her pressure. And who could blame her ONE BIT.
Anyone knows you cannot do recordings of a hip hop dance act. What do you do with them? Put them on variety shows? Do not know about the U.K these days, but there are no such things here in the U.SA anymore.
I hope you took Miss Boyle out for a cocktail after. I do appreciate your saying tonight she was your “fave”– I know that meant a LOT to her. She is welcome in the U.S.A anytime, and we will protect her, and from the Tabloids also.
Love,

I was rooting for Susan all the way. If I lived in Great Britain, I’d have voted for her multiple times. Still, I cannot deny that Diversity gave an electrifying performance tonight. What an awesome display! The final vote had to be very close. I thought Susan showed great class in congratulating the winners the way she did. That makes me adore her all the more. It distresses me to read some of the comments criticizing Diversity simply because they won the vote. Please follow Susan’s lead and congratulate these truly talented performers. And congratulations to all the finalists - all worked so hard and performed so well. I for one was totally entertained.

Usually, I post a comment on Friday but just watched the BGT final show on YouTube and wanted to make few comments.
What an incredible show! I think that the Queen would have been pleased to attend the show and watch all the performances because all of them were fantastic. I am glad that Susan proved one more time she is a great singer. It would have been fantastic for her to win the competition. Indubitably, she will have a bright musical career. I also envision a movie about her amazing life.
Thanks Piers for giving us a decent place on the cyberspace to post our comments.

I also have to say I am very disappointed that Susan did not win on BGT.Susan sang beautifully BUT you could also see the difference in her, her movements, the way she spoke, her expressions. I blame all of that on the press who are known for tearing people down. Susan America loves you. You need not worry about that.
As for Diversity winning, I feel it’s a fleeting moment which will soon fade. Susan has so many more options than they have. I’m sure the Queen would of much rather preferred hearing Susan sing and I also think Susan will get that chance.
Susan I can’t wait for you to come to America and to see the movie of your life story. YOU Susan are the true winner. You’re a wondeful, warm, gentle, caring person. I will always remain a true fan.

Goog Grief!! I have waited all day for these results and have been depressed since I saw them. Susan doesn’t need the title of “BGT winner.” Who else has been requested personally by the Queen of England & the President of the U.S within a month? Also 100,000 pounds is a drop in the bucket to her worth. Her performance was spectacular. Hey Susan come to North Carolina soon. When’s your movie coming out? Can’t wait to see it. Christmas CD (I’ll take 12) will make a nice gift for my friends.

Oh, British Media are SCUM!!!! Simon, you all should have shielded her when the media started swarming like a bunch of Vulchers…..Shame on you. Her dream was to become a “professional singer” (see the audition) NOT “BGT WINNER.” She’s done it!! Congrats Susan. We love you.

Regardless of Susan finishing 2nd, she already has a recording contract and from what I just read (and hope it’s true) Simon is working on getting the cd cut and out to Walmart for mass distribution throughout the US by the end of June. Here’s hoping this is true. I’ll definately purchase one. If she never cuts another cd, this will at least leave her comfortable to live life without financial worries. It will be completely HER CHOICE! God speed Susan and I hope Simon and especially Piers stay true to being there for you. They’re two very upright men I believe so I think you’ll be all set. Diversity was great but I am completely shocked that Susan did not win. I honestly think that her popularity in America and her unique personality were held against her. I’ve read and heard so many hateful comments about her and her appearance that I am utterly appalled.
How ironic that the prejudices we all thought she overcame in the first audition came roaring back among the haters in the media and in the public to defeat her. Susan deserves better treatment than what she got. No one in that competition deserved to be booed and those that did it should be ashamed.
Congrats to Diversity for a brilliant performance.

Dear Piers,
Thank you for standing up for Susan in the finals tonight. I think she really needed that.
Susan was the real winner. She won over all of the other singers. And she was gracious to Diversity when they won first place. I never saw one of that group congratulate Susan for winning second place. I think that speaks for itself.
I know that Susan will be coming to America. We love her over here and will welcome her with wide open arms. I have heard the Queen is interested in Susan also , by someone who should know and I hope Susan will receive her own personal invitation to sing before the Queen. I realize CD’s, a movie of Susan’s life, singing appearances and a recording contract is in the works by interested people such as Simon and others as the world dearly loves this woman.
I guess the one exception would be the press. In saying that I find it absolutely disgusting how the media places people on a pedestal and builds them up to turn right around and destroy every thing about them and enjoy doing it. I do blame BGT for not providing more protection for Susan since they knew of her learning disability. Susan looked like it was a relief when Diversity won.
I belong to a Susan Boyle Fan Club 20,000 strong. We love Susan. There are several more Susan Boyle fan clubs other than the one I belong to. We will continue to support Susan any way we can. Susan has a incredible voice that grabs people. She has tone, quality and great range of voice. My only wish would have been that BGT would have been less restrictive with Susan and let her sing the way she did at her audition. She went out to rock people at the audition and I never saw that glow afterwards. What a pity.
I hope Piers that you will continue to speak out for Susan in the days to come and try to defend her from the rubbish of the British and Anmerican media that will tear her apart if they can. Susan deserves better as her only desire is to sing for the world and do it in memory of her Mum. I hope she can do that with keeping the press in check.
Piers, I know that Simon is beginning a major entertainment blitz with Susan. I would suggest from Susan Boyle fans that he keeps Susan’s best interests at heart or he will answer to her fans. How do I know ? Because they have told me so.

Susan is so very special. I never paid attention to this show before. But I watch the youtube clip and fell instantly in love with Susan and her adorable smile.I was heartbroken when she didn’t win. As I followed this show I begin to see it was not a real talent show ,so hopefully Susan won’t care about not winning first place. At least she has millions of fans now lining up to buy her first album. I think Susan is cute as can be,even my 17 year old daughter said “why do they keep picking on her looks,I think she is cute”. Piers you keep saying Susan has done so much for the world. But what did you judges do for her. You were disrepectful ,and kept calling her old, unemployed,a spinter ect. Why couldn’t you just say a lovely lady with a great voice. Are all brits like you? Heartless and insensitive to peoples feelings? I don’t understand your show.I guess I’m from a different era, afterall,if Susan is old I am elderly since I am 51.

One thing that separates Susan from other singers is that she sings FOR people, not TO them. She is a true professional.
Now, I know it’s already been said, Piers but with the whole BGT thing over, you and Simon must not leave Susan unprotected. Surround her with only the best people and continue to show her how appreciated she is. Her voice is a two-way gift: for Susan, the chance to realise her dreams of being a professional singer; for the rest of us, music to inspire the soul.
Oh, and let’s not forget what Susan has already done for you guys and will continue to do commercially.
And please, please take her out to dinner!

And it keeps getting repeated as fact. And that whole ugly Lily story. Poor Susan ,its as if your show set a trap for her and used her to get a large amount of viewers. Its horrid.During the semi finals Susan was bubbly and happy but tonight

Susan Boyle said it best, “the best act won” Diversity rocked the stage floor. I’ve never seen something so creative like that before just dynamic. Who know they were that dark horse.
Susan has won in her own way, I think she sang last night not only for her family and for herself (and you are so right Piers, she had that inner strength to pull it off) but she sang for her mum.
She is an amazing person. I hope she is well, and that she’s back home with her family. That’s where she needs to be for the next couple of weeks. I wish her tons of luck and congrats to her, she will have an amazing career. Simon would be nuts if he didn’t sign her up already.

It would be interesting to have some idea of the age status for the vote for Diversity - I suspect they would be a younger generation who would not have the appreciation for a fantastic voice by a middle aged woman. For me the clear winner is Susan - I hope her over exposure will not destroy her.
Hopefully she will get to sing for the Queen
Congrats to Diversity also.

Although Diversity took first place in BGT, I think that Susan was the ultimate winner. Diversity can’t make a CD and not many people would purchase a DVD of them doing their little dance. They will split their winnings, dance for the Queen and possibly perform some gigs set up by BGT because they “won,” but a year from now not many people will even know who they were. Susan will get a recording contract, make millions in the U.S., and become the professional singer she wanted to be. She is known all over the world now. People will know who she is long after Diversity is forgotten. Oh, and I’m sure she will be invited to sing for the Queen another time. I would expect a personal invitation will mean more than just getting to do it because she won BGT anyway. Yes, Susan was the winner. Can’t wait to purchase her first CD!

Diversity was brilliant and deserved to win but, Flawless was equally as good. A tough choice to make. I think some people didn’t vote for MS. Boyle because of all the publicity. Overexposure. I disagree with Amanda. Diversity are an honestly intelligent, brilliant act and it;s good they got a chance. They are varied in age and can appeal to a very duverse age group.
Susan is appreciated and there is no need to be bitter that he didn;t win becaise as many point out she is the winner anyway. She has won her personal goals, too. She’s achieved so much- it’s a real revolution for her, methinks.
Be that as it may, Susan had a worthy competition. I:m glad Julian got the third place, he seems such a nice guy.

Hi Susan,
For a little more than a month now, I’ve been dreaming a dream along with you and millions other around the globe. Somehow, last evening the dream has failed to accomplish, but this isn’t a failure. What is most important, this isn’t _your_ failure.
“Diversity” are really good. I think they deserve the recognition because they’ve earned it. Yet, with all due respect to the the winner, they’re only the winner of his contest; they’re not the winner of my heart. They’re not closer to my heart, in any way. You, on the contrary, you are. Your first performance (during the audition) was stunning. You made me cry. (Please, readers, don’t throw rocks at me, I’m only a human being, like you…) I’ve been watching your audience clip many times, and every time you touched my heart and you still do. You, the “frumpy” singer, you, the “simple Susan”. I wasn’t born yesterday, and I’ve seen (and heard) a lot. Yet, you touched me much more than many others.
Not being the first in a contest doesn’t necessarily mean you’re not good or that people love you less. Tastes and opinions are greatly diverging. Six weeks ago I didn’t know you existed. Now, somehow, you’ve managed to change my life. I’m still watching your clip, and every time I feel better. What better gift could you ever have given to me?
Maybe… maybe it was a better outcome that the contest was won by someone else. Maybe you’ll be less hunted by the media, and you’ll retrieve the peace of mind that gave us “Cry Me A River” and “I Dreamed A Dream”. And, for sure, you’ll be shining for your voice and for what you are, not for being no.1 in a contest. That’s your big win!
I _do_ hope you’ll become a professional singer. You greatly deserve it. You’re a true star on this (quite) tarnished sky of 2009. I hope the media will grant you more peaceful moments (but I hope they’ll not forget you). I’m already waiting for your records.
Be blessed along with your cat. Be loved, and may all your dreams come true! Most of all, may you always be yourself! We need people like you to remind us that there are still human beings in this f_____g material world!

Oh why does everyone hate Britain now?! Just because we don’t get so obsessed over fame and fortune and when we hear one beautiful voice we don’t want to buy multiple copies of the same bloody album! People have a right to their own opinions, their own preferences and, in terms of Susan Boyle, their own choices. Susan may not want to record a CD or be adored by millions of people or even travel abroad for that matter. So I wouldn’t expect anything. The brilliant thing is, she has been given the opportunity to follow her dreams - and she is DEFINITELY worthy of that opportunity - she is a beautiful beautiful person in more ways than one. But what do we know about her dreams?
Having said that, I do agree the media over here treated her terribly and I wish they could do something to soothe the irritation they caused.
On a positive note, I think Susan may be on her way to a VERY happy place. I can see her producing brilliant and inspiring albums, but I can also see her becoming a very accomplished live performer, but I can also see her retiring to her home in Scotland with some wonderful and bizarre memories and maybe appearing again in a few years time when things have died down. Whatever happens, I think she will probably perform on next year’s BGT final and I look forward to that day. If she makes a CD in the time between, fantastic. If not, then fine. She has proven so much in the past month, inspired millions and also given a lot of people something to talk and think about so we owe her if anything! From the brief snippets we have heard from her, she seemed to enjoy the competition immensely, which is fab!
I will now shut up about Susan as by providing critique I guess I am only adding to the hype.
I loved Diversity - that kid with big hair and glasses is such a character! I think they have the PERFECT ingredients for a royal variety act and am full of admiration for every single one of them. A genius choreographer.
I do, however, wish the papers could just say ‘Diversity wins Britains Got Talent’ rather than ‘Diversity beats Susan Boyle…’
But who am I to comment?
I guess, in the end, I just want to say THANK YOU PIERS for providing such excitement and insightful coverage of everything surrounding BGT this year. I feel a very lucky nobody.
People who stood out for me epsecially were Susan Boyle, MD Showgroup, Greg Pritchard and Fabia Cerra. All very original, powerful and entertaining acts.

Anyway, my hope now is for Susan to be able to perform in front of the Queen cos that is her mum’s last wish before she left Susan to live with her cat only. And it is also Susan’s dream . They were great act, Diversity was terrific and came in first place. That doesn’t mean they won though - Susan Boyle was the winner.
Take care, get healthy and enjoy. The whole world wishes you well.

Maryc do you work for BGT? Just trying to create a little diversity here? Cute act but a dime a dozen.Susan is the best.A one off Without her you wouldn’t have had the record breaking audience, get real. Susan will still be going and recording when Diversity are dead belly up in the water as far as the entertainment world is ocncerned. They will survive maybe one or two months out there .Thats all.

That is a very interesting commnet IvoryMist, how would that effect the voting though?Does that mean Susan was sold out? But how? That doesn’t make sense to me.

I are very worried about Susan just as you are. If she was in the USA she would have won easily. I only hope she gets well soon and goes on with her career. I never write on blogs but in her case and yours I felt I must as she has won over my heart and so have you. What will the world be without Susan Boyle and her angel voice? You must ake care of her and keep her well just as Great Britian did not. She needs a spokesman and you are the one. That is the way things have worked out. Please keep us informed as to her well being. Our feelings for her haven’t stopped because the show is over. Tell all the negatives they need to deal with you. You can handle them. Take care of our Susan

Hello Susan,
Oh I wish I had a friend such as you. You are fun loving, young at heart, sweet natured, but girl you are not a pushover nor should you be! You’ve lived through some very tough situations, but your determination and inner strength have served you well. God did indeed give you a gift and I am just sorry for those who don’t see that as I think they are missing out on something so special. (I am not putting down the other talented acts from BGT; but I am saying that one song of yours made the world aware of BGT when it really wasn’t something we had followed before.)
I too love the broadway musicals and can think of scads of songs that your voice would knock out of the park. You have excellent musicality and I hope that when you begin to perform again that you take your time, rehearse and sing the songs you like or that you collaborate on with all of the great singers and musicians you will get to work with.
I come from a small town and also care for my mother and am just a few months younger than you, so I do understand some of what your life has been like. I come from a “smaller” family of 3 girls and three boys, but there’s always room for one more. I hereby deem you my honorary “older” (tee hee) sister.
Susan if you never sang another note, I’d feel just the same. I hope you DO sing up a storm, mind you, but who you are is just as wonderful as that gift of yours. We really did need a break from some of the grim reality we live in these days and you gave us that and I know millions of us feel that way and truly want you to know how good you made us feel. I haven’t smiled ear to ear like that in the longest time and my contacts kept washing out as I wiped my eyes listening to your “Dream”.
We need more people in the world like Susan.
Thank you for being so brave. God love ya.

Contrary to the headlines of the trashy media, Susan is beginning her professional singing career soon–this IS her dream, so it is not right to say that the dream has ended. She is just resting and taking care of herself for now.
Second, Susan said she wanted to perform in front of the Queen, and she’ll get it even if she didn’t win the contest to get to sing for the Queen,if HM is in her right mind not to pass off the opportunity to hear Susan’s magical voice. Michelle is right, Susan will have it better–to be invited by the Queen. A fitting recognition to the talent that Susan has generously shared with those who care to listen.
Overall, Susan is more than a winner, she is a magnificent person and talent, sans the contest. She has won millions of hearts and their respect; is posed to have a lucrative singing career as a professional (not that the lucrative matters to her the most as it’s all about singing herself to the world, and we agree, Susan! Though, we also agree that you deserve the money, too, from us who will buy your recordings!); more important, she will continue to inspire more people because of her singing. That should make any Susan Boyle fan’s day. Cheers and love, Susan!

Mary C, I do know this. We Americas are very well aware of what Diversity did. Unlike you who live in the UK we even actually understand why Susan sang the same song. Sorry you don’t get it. You must not watch much of BGT yourself or you would atleast know why she sang the same song. Why did Paul Potts? Why did Shaun Smith? Why did George Sampson do the same dance routine twice?
We seen diversity and they don’t interest us. Here in the states what they do is called cheerleading and we see it every Friday night and Sunday afternoon at every ballgame across the country. It is done by school girls showing support for their teams. Many many of them do it much better than diversity….

Susan is beautiful inside and out to me. Ever since I heard her sing her first song, I have listened to it every night before I go to bed. What a voice! What humor, fun-loving, cheerful, sweet ways! Susan don’t pay any attention to the mean spirited press. You, as Piers told another contestant last year, have nore talent then they can ever DREAM of having.
You have got a bright future with help from Simon Cowell. He is a tough judge, but only if you have no talent. You would definitely fill up any auditorium wherever you choose. I have never seen a performer who stirred so many emotions in me. We love you in America! Come over here! Thank you, Piers for being good to Susan. You are a lovely man.

There was something that went wrong. I’ve gone through all the youtube performances and interviews and Susan was so different in the final performance. She sang great but the interview afterward, her demeanor had change. She look like someone who lost trust, disillusioned. I think the show didn’t go as she was led to believe it would. Also she looked forlorned ,as though she no longer believed she was amongst friends. Simon is the boss and money comes first so Susan may have had to accept some distasteful facets about the show, like bad press. And they didn’t really defend her much when the bad press was coming out . I think its all trumped up. Even now Geraldo Rivera refers to her as the spinster who has never been kissed ,and he said ahe had a meltdown because she lost. Those are lies ,why does Geraldo Rivera keep repeating these lies. Susan has said she was just joking about the kiss, her brother said she is just in the clinic from exhaustion. Its been said over and over that she doesn’t have learning disabilities now,yet the press is still making her out to be a basket case. Is Simon behind it all,is he friends with Geraldo and Oprah ,trying to paint a false picture of Susan to justify why she lost to cover over that it was fixed? Are they playing good cop ,bad cop with Piers playing good cop ,defending her publicly but underminding her credibility behind the scenes so no questions are asked about the unexpected 2nd place. Piers was the one who said he expected her to win. I watched the Larry King interview again. Piers said “If Susan doesn’t win ,it would have to be someone pretty incredable to beat her”. The BGT leaders built Susan up to believe she was going to win. They hype it up in the media which led to all the media around her house and up in her face. Then all the upset at the hotel, then her loss, and now she is in the clinic and all the talking heads are at it again, making Susan out to be the fall guy. I believe Simon knew Susan wasn’t going to win because the show is rigged. I believe he feels she will get rewarded by having a career and that was the trade off. I think he does these things to boost ratings. I think Susan will come through this and move on and her family will help her work through it and she’ll just see the show for what it is and not measure her talent by coming in 2nd place because she will see its not a real talent show ,its just for entertainment. The show is set up to convince the audience that it is a talent show, but I don’t believe it is. I can’t imagine who would bet on it,I wouldn’t !

Piers,
I have a request of you and the media in general. The nickname that seems to be going around out there, “SuBo” for Susan Boyle, comes across negatively and I’ve disliked it from the second I heard it. Can’t the vast pool of the media come up with something better than that? It has the same tone as the “Simple Susan” nickname had in the years the bullies picked on this lady. Here’s a novel idea, how about simply Susan Boyle? Will the papers run out of ink?
It’s time that people speak up and out about the rudeness and ugly comments that the media puts out there expecting us to swallow.
Thanks,
Michelle

If you were truly sincere and not playing the good cop, bravo to you: this world and BRITISH PEOPLE do need more people(role model) like you. But if you were; playing the role, may all of these comments change your mind and inspire you to see your true potential (which was a great one) and what you could have done to help this world (and definitely lift up the soul of BRITISH.)

Good to see Piers Morgan you are still on the job and affirming Susan is going to be making her album.
Ofcourse it was the Tabloid press they had some kind of agenda to bring Susan’s popularity down.that caused the trauma they were diabolical. The parents are responsible for their children entering the show and knew what they were putting them up for.
Susan she definitely was doing what she wanted to do at last.Knowing Simon Cowell has come out and said he is now behind her whatever she wants uncondionally!IÂs an astounding coup.
I hope he finds someway to provide her with a safe house and security with pebbles and maybe her two chosen campanions and not go back to Blackburn where she would be a sitting duck for the media again and possibly Internet nutters ( there are a few just read the comments and she had recieved death threats) Susan is now exposed to all that. Sad but true.
I do think it is now the responsibility of BGT and Simon Cowell to see she is kept safe

Piers,
I just saw your most recent interview and I do agree that the problems really started with the media. Things seemed to be going quite well up until then. It’s time the public let the media know that we won’t stand for this kind of garbage anymore. I just don’t see how those reporters, editors and such sleep at night. Don’t they care about people? Have they become totally void of empathy and compassion.
Susan, you’ve got a lot of people out there actively supporting you every day - making the time to post notes of encouragement and some talented people making video tributes to you, so the effort is being made on the public’s part.

Piers, Simon says that America is falling over itself for a piece of Susan Boyle. I would like you to remind Simon that they are not the only ones!!! I am British and all her thousands of fans in the UK need to have a CD too, so please include the UK when you are distributing CD’s throughout the world!! Susan ACTUALLY IS THE WINNER! No hard feelings against Diversity, I wish them well, but you three judges must secretly wonder what went wrong in the voting? I, like millions of others around the world already know the answer! Good Luck Susan, you’re the very best, get well soon and start recording your CD.

Susan,
I don’t know if you’ll ever read, or even have time to read, all of the posts at this site, your Susan Boyle Fan website - if you’ve heard about it (which has thousands of hits/postings from some very excited fans), or any of the other sites, but you’ve been well supported since the results show. I don’t know if the rumors are true - that there was some king of a mix-up with the phone numbers during the finale, but it doesn’t really matter. You will have your career and I know you will excel in it.
Susan, I hope you stay true to yourself and remain the warm and open person we have seen. That’s a big part of why you are so popular - people can relate. Perhaps, keeping that in mind, you can extend the outreach work you do - as time allows - to speak and sing at schools (of all ages), nursing homes, and maybe veterans centers too. You’d bring at lot of joy to a lot of appreciative people. Maybe even get Simon to help keep the price of your future endeavours affordable to the public in this tough economic time. Lots of people have lost their jobs, or their spouse has, or have had hours or wages cut. Anyway, it’s just a thought.
We’d love to hear from you Susan and I’m sure it won’t be long before you are out performing.
Glad at least to have been in the “You Tube” audience to hear you sing and see your story unfold. Best wishes to you Susan and take things at your own pace - stay healthy and in good spirits and enjoy all that is unfolding before you.

The ones who need to be hospitalized are these scum tabloid reporters who seem to thrive on destroying people. They are the ones who are sick and need psychiatric help. They need to know why it does not bother them to take a perfectly good woman and publicly humiliate and try to destroy. Obviously, they are a bunch of sociopaths.

Piers,
I had another thought of a beautiful song for Susan to sing and it would be a more appropriate nickname for the papers if they insist on using one. The song: “Songbird” written by Steve Nelson and and David P. Wolfert. The lyrics will touch the audience, the song appears to be suited for her vocal range, and the video that could be played behind her could be outstanding.

I just did a search on Paul Potts on the online tabloid ,The Sun. All the articles were nothing but praise. Then I did a search on Susan Boyle, and all the articles were mean spirited and the ugliest ,lyingest ,tabloid trash I have ever seen.
What is the difference between Paul Potts and Susan Boyle? Only one that I can see,Susan is a woman. It makes you wonder doesn’t it. Poor Susan has to rise above, answer her critics and why, simply because she is a woman. Simon never had to tell Paul Potts to answer his critics ,he had none. What a sad commentary . I know, everyone says tabloids are trash ,its not real news. But still ,its hurtful. Especially when one compares the treatment of 2 singers on BTG ,one male, one female. Both gifted .One is celebrated ,the other is trashed .
