Horseplay, Halliwell, Holden and the Holy Grail of Cricket.

Whoever said being a Morgan was easy? For those of you that missed Piers’ sensational Sunday column in Live Magazine, Piers kicked off the last week of July by being awarded the somewhat ungracious title of ‘Britain’s Most Embarrassing Dad’.
Despite receiving a somewhat foreboding message from his sons (’you better make it up to us…’ ) the next day proved to be a little more glamorous as Piers dropped by The Cartier International Polo Match and managed to pretty much ignore the game and stay squarely focused on the complementary lobster and Chateau Margaux.
The same event saw a rather bizarre exchange with former ‘Spice Girl’ Geri Halliwell; “If you want to do me, then I get to do you.” and a conversation with a rather battered and bruised Andrew Neil.
The week progressed with a series of surreal moments, including Amanda Holden telling of her ‘Swine Flu’ avoidance measures during her much photographed ‘air kiss’ with Myleene Klass, and Piers managing to regain the respect of his boys by taking them to the England dressing room after the Edgbaston Test match in Birmingham, and getting them signed bats to boot. ‘Daddy Cool’ indeed….

And with the 2009-10 football season (that’s soccer to you Yanks!) less than a week away, Piers has worked out his top 20 predictions for what we should expect from the beautiful game this year.

Piers,
I was horrified that Charles Dewayne was voted off AGT. He was my favorite of all. I am so happy that your comments to him were positive and that you voted for him. How must this multi-talented young man feel this morning having lost to a dog!!! Should we now expect to see 2 dogs squaring off in the grand finale!?
Also happy that you had positive things to say about Susan to Howard Stern who was pretty disgusting in his comments about her looks. Susan has always been beautiful to her fans. Too bad people could not appreciate her sweet face at the audition.

Hi Piers,
I agree with the person above. I think Sharon and David must have been smoking their socks to vote for a dog over the beautiful voice of Charles. Lost a little respect for Sharon, she’s usually pretty good. No comment on David!!!

Piers, your “it would be the greatest travesty…” comment was meant to force Sharon’s hand. She recoiled. Is Sharon looking down the road at semi-final and final line-ups and choosing for ratings rather than talent? As for bleary-eyed David, it appeared that the wagon left town without him.
BTW the dog Rory was wonderful, but Tony was not. What do you usually do in such cases? Tell the star to stay and lose his lousy partner. Oh, wait. That might not work.

I have to totally agree with those who were aghast at Rory being seleted rather than Charles. That was a true travesty!! I saw you on The Tonight Show, Piers, and you looked soooooooo nervous, but you were also very, very funny! You were great, in fact. Really cute, really sexy, really funny!

So glad I had taken a sip of tea during the
commercial, as I surely would have spewed it
out, hearing that Rory was picked, instead of
Charles. Travesty indeed! Rory did great,
( considering! ) I don’t know who was more
surprised at the choice of who was picked,
myself ( and probably the majority of the
audience ) or Tony, who looked completely
flabergasted in disbelief!

I didn’t think Piers looked nervous at all. As always, he looked fabulous and he was absolutely hilarious.

Piers, im agree with you about Charles DeWayne, he’s really TALENTED i know Tony and rory (i think thats their names) are really good, funny and cute, but its not a million dollar act or a Las Vegas act, so Charles i think he is like the new Stevie Wonder seriously no joking, he was one of my favorite acts on AGT and i think he needs a second chance. Anyways i always respect you and your desicions because you are there for find talent, and you always are honest man and thats why i’m your fan. Greetings from Peru.

I have been watching AGT and wonder about some of the acts you think are horrible. On BGT you guys chose 3 chunky guys with wheelbarrows and a hefty father & son (Starvos Flatley or something like that). And the very large woman with big breasts covered by British flags which you loved. What kind of talent was that?!! Plus a lot of other awful acts that were ridiculous yet you come to America and snarl your nose. Seriously, you snarl; have you watched yourself? Oh I forgot, you are vain. Yes, you do watch yourself.
Also, I would like to know if you really read these posts or does someone do that for you and report back to you? Hey, otherwise you seem like an okay guy.
Oh, one more thing. What about the cute little girl with the big voice from Hawaii? Why was she too young? If she won, which she could have, she couldn’t be signed by Simon and not old enough for Vegas. Right of wrong?? Please we would like to know the answers to these things.

What a year for you Piers with all these special awards which keep pouring your way. Embarrassing dad or not – it must be such a joy to hang around with your children. I’m sure they must be thrilled.
Cheers from Canada

I have to say I would not pay money to watch a dog chase a disk. Maybe they passed them to cut back on the real talent. I don’t know what was in their heads other than there are some great singers that he would have been up against. For whatever reason it was a bad call.

Adding to my misspelled comment above, I do wish Charles the best, and will be delighted to buy his first album, as I’m sure he is not going unnoticed. Good luck, Charles!
