Susan, Shakira and Selfish Sol
September 28, 2009
In this week’s The Insider column Piers Morgan recounts his meeting with Susan Boyle backstage for the final of AGT. He gives us the inside scoop on how she is doing and about her pre show nerves. He also writes about meeting Shakira and shares an anecdote or two from singing sensation Katherine Jenkins on her failure to be recognised in LA. To read the article click here.
Over in his sports column, Piers labels Sol Campbell as the most selfish man in the UK, argues why Arsenal need a Craig Bellamy and takes Gary Neville to task over his view on the fan/player dynamic. To read the article click here.

In reading the information regarding your good friend, Sharon O. I may not know her as well as you, but I, too, believe that she has more talents than are apparent to her. Therefore, I will write something special just for her. Sometimes people don’t fully grasp the inspiration they provide for others. They require an outsider’s view from good friends like you.

Ok OK, I’ll be the first to comment. Piers, as you can see the date you promised Susan is still on the back of our mindes. So, in the near future (you did say once AGT was over) you do owe Susan a night on the town. A ‘thank you’ dinner for all she’s done for you. What great company she would be. You can toast to the new album and both of your new found fame. It is because of Susan that I found you and have grown to like you. I do questioned your motives from time to time but for the most part I do find you appealing. You can end the night with a kiss on her cheek to comfirm forever friends.

Thank you for the answer to the question that so many have been asking–no, you have not taken Susan out to dinner YET. Thank you for reporting that the old sparkle is back in her eyes. Thank you also for applauding courage, loyalty, parenting, and friendship. I have heard lots of good comments about your co-hosting on the Today Show. I love your motivational advice to yourself–”If Susan Boyle can do it, then so can I.”

I have a question- were you sitting down when Miss Boyle “smothered” you with kisses backstage? she is so tiny, and you are so tall? Just wondering. How nice for you to have that lovely lady greet you so warmly. It is time to wine and dine her, to thank her for making you so popular her, as well ( USA )
She seems to laugh a lot around you, so I am sure you would have a great time, as you have such a marvelous sense of humour. Love your work, and your stories.

Dear Piers,
I am tired fighting with the other web sites, I’ll leave it for the high tech savvy ones.
So I’ll visit your site to leave messages for Susan,
until you throw me out, okay? Thank you.
Hence the reason for my visit today, saw the article on Susan re: the AGT finale performance.
Great report from you! On both the backstage chat and her performance. She came through for you didn’t she? Your months of support for her was returned by hers for your show when you needed it, good.
Glad Sharon O. was able to give Susan the advice she needed to stay strong and perform. She was brilliant!!
Read some comments on your article, some were hilarious! oh Piers some gave you quite a hard time (I’m also guilty of that at times) Susan’s fans are
very protective of her as you know so I guess you have grown used to us by now, you’ve said that you have a tough skin, good.
Some have said that your co-hosting of the ‘Today’ show was quite good, congrats…
Anyway hope your fans can bear with me but Susan tops them all. I like the simplicity of your site compared to others.
Again thank you for the great news on Susan, you know that we all want her to be happy.
Have a great day!

Thank you, Piers for the update on Susan. You have been so good to and for her; you gave her encouragement when the times weren’t so good and she was adapting to fame thrust upon her so suddenly.Susan truly has been an inspiration and so too has Sharon Osbourne. I watched the entire season of America’s Got Talent (partly because you were on it–lol) and enjoyed all three of you judges. (Hoff killed me with some of his expressions!)I truly hope you are well and wish you success in whatever you do.

Dear Piers:
I loved your last article about Susan’s performance on AGT. It is the first time your writing touched my heart. Maybe it is just me or maybe it is all about Susan’s phenomenon. Somehow, her voice mysteriously touches our soul, and when this happens, inspiration and many talents awaken!
Thank you for being her friend, we all need to listen her angelical, beautiful voice.

Piers,
You take care of our Susan. You are experienced and have the ability to help keep her out of harms way. She has become very important to alot of people. She is our sister, best friend, aunt, mother. We are very protective of her and want her to have and live her dream. She has paid her dues and now it’s her time to be treated the way she deserves to be! When she sings, the world stops and I feel at peace. I too, never knew who Piers Morgan was until Susan Boyle. Now I visit your site frequently and watch for where you are going to be.

I need to say something here, first of all I am a very big Susan fan, now everybody wants you to take Susan on that date, well I dont think you should do that Piers. You said that Susan has a crush on you susan needs to get over that crush and taking er to dinner is not going to help, Susan is to sweet and wonderful to be going on a date with some one who just see,s her as a good friend, we dont need her hart to get broken. as you yourself said, that at agt Susan jump up of her chair and covered you with kisses. I think the best thing is taking a step back and let her just focus on her carrer. And then she can meet some one who loves her back. I am just a grandmother who knows what a crush can do to you, we don,t want her to fall in love with some one who won,t love her back. Just my view on this. Hope you read it. and I do think you are a very wonderful person
regards Anne

Piers, I am upset at the disgusting comments Sharon O made about Susan Boyle on a radio show yesterday. Her nasty comments were so vulgar, I couldn’t believe what I heard. I don’t think that you can do anything about this incident but I know you are a good friend of Simons. Maybe you could past the word on to Simon that we fans are fed up with Sharon and Amanda and feel they should be removed as judges. I know for myself, if Sharon is on AGT next year I will not be watching it and I will bad mouth it every chance I get. Susan has done nothing to these yappers and doesn’t deserve this trash against her in the national news. It is time for you to address this and Simon to take care of it. I will be going to New York to hear Susan and I don’t want anything to happen to her. You both said you would watch over things. Please keep your words.
