Cowell will be the first guest in the series and will open up about his family, his business and his love-life in the exclusive interview for ITV1.

The third series of Life Stories will see Piers grilling six celebrities including Cowell, Kym Marsh, Geri Halliwell and Joan Collins about their lives, loves, highs and lows.

Filmed in front of a studio audience, each show is devoted to one guest, looking back over their personal lives and their careers and will include interviews with their friends, families and colleagues.

Piers said: ‘I think this is the best line-up I’ve had so far. It’s hard to think of a stronger possible start than Gordon Brown and Simon Cowell, obviously. One is the country’s most powerful man, and the other’s the Prime Minister. But the rest of the names are all compelling stars too, who have led varied, successful, and occasionally very traumatic lives. This series has more laughs, tears, and genuinely moving moments than even the previous two series. I think this show has now become what I always hoped it would be - the place for the biggest celebrities to come and give the best interview of their lives.’

This week, Piers enters the fabulous world of fashion (daaaahhhhling) and fulfils a life-long ambition by walking down the catwalk as a male model all in the name of charity. Piers’ old sparring partner Naomi Campbell and the Prime Minister’s wife Sarah Brown threw an all out style spectacular in the ‘Fashion For Relief Haiti’ show, and managed to raise over one million pounds in the process.

This week…the unthinkable has happened. Simon couldn’t make it to a day’s judging. It seems the world’s most famous judge was defeated by the common cold, and it was left to none other than Louis Walsh to fill in for the head honcho, much to Piers’ chagrin.

Great news,  Piers Morgan’s Life Stories will be returning for another six episodes in March on ITV1. In addition there will be a one off before the season starts, with a very very special guest.

Prime Minister Gordon Brown will be joining Piers Morgan for an indepth hour long special on ITV1.

Piers said “I have been trying to secure a Life Stories interview with the Prime Minister since the series was first devised, because he is an absolutely perfect subject for the show. He’s one of the most famous people in the country, yet remains a man of mystery to many.  I have known Gordon Brown for over 15 years - he is a man who has enjoyed great triumph, suffered terrible tragedy, and will soon face the biggest challenge of his career.”

As for the Sports Column, sadly Piers’ fears rung  too true. As he penned his article before the London derby Piers could only predict the damage that would be done to Arsene’s reputation and the team if they were to lose at Stamford Bridge. Well sadly for all Gunners, it was not to be another capitulation and leaves them 9 points adrift with Liverpool looming both in the fixtures list and in the table.
